answers:

Normally, No, they are not associated together, as both are too time consuming. But doing one as your profession and the other as a hobby can be, unless one wants to do both, but then you won’t have much of a personal life.
It takes 4 years of college to become a full-fledged nutritionist, and then what our US government considers nutrition education isn’t always whats best for your consumers. Our government allows too much ‘junk’ in our foods and considers some bad foods to be safe. Just look at our kids and the plain and simple fact that they are beginning to have too many health issues at very young ages.

Running tips for a beginner?

Hi,

So I have decided to take up running.
I have not much previous experience though I have been on a treadmill a few times and then there was high school PE XD

From the age of 14-17 I used to hike (on flat and hill terrain) competitively and at my peak could do 20-24 miles in a day (Terrible times )

So yeah I gave that up after summer last year, but as the season when I normally would begin training has past and now I would of been fully trained and competing I noticed that I’m losing all my stamina, fitness and the definition in my legs has gone

So to save my health I need tips on the best way to start running and successfully keep it up.

I plan to run in the early morning to avoid embarrassment as a beginner.

Any suggestion

I was like you when i began high school. I joined the cross country team to meet new people and get in shape. My first day i ran two miles. I ran painfully slow, but I did it, and thats what mattered. If you just pick a small mileage (2 miles 2 times a week?) the sense of accomplishment is huge. And thats what keeps people addicted to running. People who try to run 5 miles just getting started are less likely to continue running that people who start small.

Exercise routine for somebody with mild Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

Hi, over the past 3 years I have lost 3 stone 7 Lb (23KG) and was quite active despite my health condition, but now i work 30 hours a week in a mentally tiring job so by the time i get home, all i want to do is sleep! i need to loose another 2 stone and get active again (i miss the gym but cant afford a membership).
I’ve looked for advice on the internet and i know i need to combine resistance and cardio with interval training to get the best results, but i need somebody to do a plan for me because I get confused!
At home I have:
Yoga dvd (broken into 20min slots)
ladies dumbells
inflatable punch bag (good for stress release )
skipping rope (gold gym thing)

I also walk to and from work, (16m/wk) and i play about 2 hours of sport at the wknd. I also got into jogging last year but my fitness level has severley dropped, but im pick this up again.

Any ideas on a steady plan that wont leave me tired but will help me lose weight? My nutrition is good. I just want to get healthy. thanks
sorry, i forgot to point out, at the moment im only walking 16 miles a week, i’ve been ill with a virus so ive not done any sports for a while but i want to slowly get more active. im also very poor so activities that i need to pay for isnt really an option unfortunately, that’s why i’ve added a list of things that i have available to me.

Thanks for ur input so far x

answers:

You should work with your doctor to draw up a specific plan for your needs and abilities, but there are things you can do on your own.

Walking is an excellent form of aerobic exercise for people with chronic fatigue syndrome. Other gentle exercises, such as riding a bicycle or stationary bike or swimming, are also good. You need to find a balance so that you are exercising enough to benefit from it but not exercising so much that you become overtired. Here are some things to consider:

Adopt a positive attitude toward exercise. Try to put aside your doubts and your worries that it will cause a relapse.
Start very slowly. If you have not been very active lately, it is a bad idea to jump into a vigorous exercise program. Start with just a few minutes of very gentle exercise, such as stretching. When you are comfortable with stretching exercises, add very short periods of a mild aerobic activity such as walking or swimming.
Increase very gradually. After you know that your body can tolerate this level of exercise over the course of several sessions, increase the length of your exercise session by only 1 minute. Rest frequently, and gradually increase your exercise intensity a little bit at a time until you can exercise for 20 to 30 minutes without becoming overtired. Try to exercise 3 to 4 times a week.
Don’t push yourself too hard. You can easily become overtired, which will defeat the purpose of exercise.
Don’t exercise within 2 hours of bedtime. Exercising just before you go to bed may make it harder to fall asleep.
Take a few days off when you need to. There may be periods of time when stress or other physical activities make exercise too difficult. When this happens, take a little time off, and then try to get back into your exercise routine as soon as possible.
Keep track of your exercise on a calendar or use this progress chart.

Test Your Knowledge

If you are having a good day and feel more energetic, it’s okay to push yourself a little harder than your exercise plan calls for.

True
False
This answer is incorrect.
People with CFS should closely follow their planned exercise program. Increasing your exercise very slowly lets your body make the changes that it needs to cope with activity and exercise. Pushing yourself harder when you’re having a good day might cause a relapse of severe fatigue.

This answer is correct.
People with CFS should closely follow their planned exercise program. Increasing your exercise very slowly lets your body make the changes that it needs to cope with activity and exercise. Pushing yourself harder when you’re having a good day might cause a relapse of severe fatigue.
It sounds like yo may be doing too much already for your condition according to the above info. I pay the price when I exercise too much, it makes me worse, I am getting healthier just from the treadmill, it just takes a little longer being sick with CFS, LYME AND EBV. Good luck to you, I hope your symptoms subside!

answers:

Experts recommend that you accumulate one hour of physical activity every day to stay healthy or improve our health. Obviously this is also good if you are trying to lose weight and keeping it off.

The rule is the more intensive the activity is, the shorter the duration of exercise. As you progress into activity with moderate intensity, you can cut down to 30 minutes a day for four days per week.

There are 3 types of exercise that your body needs to keep healthy – cardiovascular, flexibility and strength. Cardiovascular activities are those ranging from moderate to vigorous exercises.

Here are some of the light, moderate and vigorous activities:

answers:

You would have to be doing a LOT of running in order for the muscles to “burn down.” As in training for a marathon or something along those lines.

Interval cardio (HIIT and Tabatas) are a good way of getting cardio fitness without worrying too much about losing muscle.

answers:

You can weight train all you want…wont make a difference if you dont eat in a calorie surplus and take in enough protein.

It doesn’t matter when you eat the calories, though it would be wise to eat a carb based meal before weight training, and a protein based meal after workout.

Total daily calories is what matters mostly. To gain muscle you have to eat more than your body burns, but don’t eat way over or you’ll gain more fat than you want.

And oh by the way, if your scared of being big and bulky, dont worry you wont. Women don’t have the natural testosterone to get big and bulky without taking steroids.

I would suggest a phased programme plan. For the first four weeks, you could re-educate your body so that the correct muscles start to do the correct job at the correct time. You may find that your body isn’t working as efficiently as it should be after your accident, and it is important to work from the inside out so you can start to build good solid foundations to your training. So, for example, during this phase you could integrate some balance and stabilization exercises with some cardio work. Perhaps just work at 60-75% of your maximum heart rate (MHR). Your MHR is calculated as 220 – your age, so if you are 20, 60% of your MHR would be 200×0.65=130
Then during the next four weeks, you could progress your training and start to strengthen your muscles. You may also start to introduce interval training with your cardio routine (work for 5 minutes at 60-75% MHR, then 1 minute at 80-85% MHR, 5 minutes at 60-75%, 1 minute at 80-85%, 5 minutes at 60-75%, 1 minute at 80-85%, 2-3 minutes at 60-75% then cool down for about 5 – 10 minutes.
You can then continue to challenge yourself and may introduce more intense power training (power means speed and more functional – real time movements) and also more interval training.
If you set goals and work towards smaller targets (milestones) you should find that your fitness will dramatically improve before you start your PT course in June.

Want to cut up and bulk up! Food suggestions? Binging? HELP ME?

Im 18 years old, im 80kg/176lbs and 6ft tall. I want to build muscle and be toned. I’ve started weight training at the gym 3 times per week, i seldom do cardio but have a decent level of fitness from Navy requirements. I dont want to lose weight just gain muscle but tone up at the same time (is this even possible?), I’ve had a personal trainer set me up with a weight training program. Do i need to do any cardio (sprinting?) or anything to tone up at the same time without having any negative effects on my muscle gain? What is the best food that i can eat during this muscle building process? My trainer tells me to eat as much food as i can 6 times a day, i tend to just eat chicken & salad sandwiches and rolls for most meals as its cheap and easy. I snack on raw mixed nuts and raisins. I try to stick to this as much as possible but feel bad about it being white bread, then i get binges where i just go to the supermarket and buy a block of chocolate and just eat it. I dont do it to often(maybe once a week) but how can i reduce this kind of binging. I am not fat, but im not as cut as i want to be and this is what i really want to improve on without it having effect on muscle gain. Should i drink protein shakes? im just scared eating so much will make me fat and how am i supposed to tone up if im getting fat. all this health stuff makes no sense to me!

ive read body for life, but body for life seems to be more of overcoming a mental barrier to get into serious weightloss which im past. Both my trainer and friends told me body for life isnt the best idea for serious muscle building, although comment is very appreciated and i could be wrong

Does your New Year’s Resolutions include fitness?

if you don’t actually do anything else on your list this coming year, please think of not only your outer appearance (sculpting muscles, looking hot in a two-piece, etc), but think of your overall health!!!

if you are not currently doing a regimen, please consider the following:

1. work major muscle groups (chest, back, shoulders, core, and legs) there is really no need to isolate muscles when doing 2-3 sets of an exerise per major muscle group. (example: when doing chest {push} exercises, you are already hitting your triceps. another example: when doing back {pull} exercises, you are already hitting your biceps
2. work your way up each session (keep a log) by going up in reps, sets, weight or frequency (number of days per week)
3. follow your weight program with cardio, ideally 30+ minutes (your metabolism is at it’s highest immediately after weight training, making this the time that is best for burning the most calories)
4. start out with twice per week, then try to work your way up to more days per week. but remember – - – - even ONE day a week is better than none at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5. at the end of the year, you’ll be able to look at your log and see how far you came…how much stronger you are. but most importantly, your doctor will pat you on the back and you will have guys/girls (whichever you prefer) admiring that new physique!!

i hope this helps to encourage at least one person out there to get started at their local gym or dust of that equipment in the basement after the 1st, if not sooner!!

Please don’t encourage them. Every January, I have to navigate around a fresh crop of dopes in the YMCA pool with no clue about pool etiquette.

They’ll jump in in front of me in the fast lane, apparently thinking I can’t keep up because I’m twice their age. After a lap, they start to fade and I’m on their feet, after 4 at most they’re gassed and hanging on the side. That one leaves, embarrased, another couple jump in, and so it goes for 5000 m.

answers:

Any school worth it’s salt should have a page on their site about their accreditation – don’t just be looking for national but regional as well – and the agency they’re accredited by should be recognized by the US Dept. Of Education: http://www2.ed.gov/admins/finaid/accred/accreditation_pg6.html

For personal training in particular, make sure you look at the program as well. Ideally, it should be geared toward and prepare you for the national certification programs like NSCA and/or ACE.

I can’t tell you which one is the best, but I can point you toward a college search site that might help: http://www.uscollegesearch.org. Look under “Personal Services” and your zip code, and that should give you a list of nearby schools that offer personal training. I would check out their sites’ information and then search for reviews to help narrow the list down.

answers:

If you’re not a veteran you can almost certainly cut USPS off your list. Eligible veterans receive extra points on the postal exams and are given preference in hiring. Current career postal clerks are making about $25 an hour. Temporary/transitional city letter carriers make about $23 an hour. UPS is a no go, unless you’re willing to work part-time loading for 2-6 years making $8-$11 an hour, but if you make it, their package drivers are currently making $28 an hour. FedEx Express doesn’t make as much and they aren’t union, and FedEx Ground drivers aren’t even employees and don’t earn near as much as company drivers. I’m a non-career clerk with USPS. I’ve been there working 6 days a week, only 4 hours a day in a large post office. I make $14.60 an hour, no benefits, and will never make career clerk. There’s no future there. I’m an Iraq war veteran, I have a 4-year degree, a pregnant wife, and no idea what I’m going to do. Trust me, you’re better off elsewhere…

I want to be a personal trainer. Is this a good choice?

Hello everyone,

I’m turning 19 in 4 months and I haven’t really done anything with my life yet. I’ve been searching for a job for about a year. Since I live in Hawaii and live in a small town so its hard. I haven’t found any jobs and its really depressing me.

Before that I was about 120 pounds and severely addicted to world of warcraft for about 3 years. From about 15- 18 yrs old. Playing about 4-10 hours per day. I actually lost weight from not eating enough and I’m pretty sure my muscles were burned for fuel since I didn’t eat enough. That’s why I lost weight.

So after a 3 year addiction I quit wow in august 2009. I started P90X in September 2009. Prior to this I had never done real working out. Maybe 25 push ups and 5 minutes of sit ups. That was it though! I started P90X and did it for 2 months. Fell off the wagon at around day 70. Restarted January 1st 2010 fresh, did another round of P90X and missed 0 days! Then I did round 2, but P90X+ this time. I’m coming up on day 81 of this round of P90X+.

I’ve found a new found love for fitness and being healthy. I want to share my knowledge, be it little as of right now. With everyone I know. I’ve only been doing the P90X and P90X+ systems so far but even in the 10 months it’s been since I started this journey. I’ve learned a lot and I’ve put my addiction I had for world of warcraft into fitness and being healthy.

With that being said, I started at 120 pounds of pretty much just skin and bone and now I’m 142 of lean muscles. I’ve gotten a six pack now and its amazing how far hard work and determination can get you.

I’m 5’9 and turning 19 in 4 months. I want to do something with my life and I think trying this personal trainer idea might actually be a good thing.

If i do decide to do it, what I plan to do is go to college and get some dumb part time job and get at least 2 years of college in. Get my certificate, and any other courses in college that would make me more desirable as a personal trainer.

Once I have all that either look into some local gyms and see if they are employing personal trainers and if not set up my own and market myself for it.

I don’t think this is some fad that I’m going to get bored with. I’m really looking forward to do this for the rest of my life. I want to stay fit and healthy until the end of time.

I know some about nutrition and diets but I want to further expand my brain and be the most qualified I can be.

SHORT VERSION : I’m 19 in 4 months, I used to be really skinny from being addicted to wow. Then I quit and now I’m kinda ripped and decently cut. I haven’t had a job yet because my town sucks and is in hawaii so its super expensive. Do you think being a personal trainer is a good career path? I dont want to work at minimum wage forever.

Fitness training schedule help?

Hi all I’m training for a 100m although I’m a little bit concerned about my training program, because I’m in doubt that my training program will help me develop my 400m. I’ve also noticed that my PRE is pretty low, and I really don’t feel that that efficient when I run. I have 8 training sessions per week going from Monday to Thursday (morning and evening).

In my morning session I do:
-3000m warm up
-15 minutes on exercise bike
-2 x200m at 3 mins
-4 x 100m at 2 mins
-20 minutes of skipping
- warm down

In my evening session I do:
-2000m slow warm up
-3 x 800m at 6 mins
-5 x 200m at 1 minute
-200 push ups
-200 sit ups
-2000m warm down

I’m really not sure what I’m doing wrong in my training program and it’d be fantastic if someone could make some suggestions on my program. Thanks for reading!

I’m not quite sure why you are concerned that your training program will help develop your 400 if you are training for a 100. Also I am unfamiliar with the acronym PRE. You don’t list times for your workouts but I would say you are wasting a lot of energy on unnecessary activities or non-beneficial activities.
1) I wouldn’t train twice a day unless I was getting all I could out of training once a day
2) There is no point in cross training (riding the exercise bike) if you are already running that day
3) The 800m runs are not 100m training or even 400m training, there is no purpose for them
4) You are doing far to many pushups and situps, instead of sit ups do core exercises (plank, side plank, bird dogs) 3 sets holding for 30 seconds with a 30 second rest in between.

Buy Craig Ballantyne’s Turbulence Training For The Cheapest Price?

Hey everyone

Maybe one of you knows where I can buy Craig Ballantyne’s Turbulence Training Program for the cheapest price? Also, is there any possibility to get some kind of trial offer for this program, cause I really want to try it soon but don’t want to pay the full price before seeing any results.

Hey buddy

Firstly, if you want to buy Craig Ballantyne’s Turbulence Training program I will highly recommend to do it through the official website, in this way you will get 2 months of full money back guarantee for this program.

About the price, when I bought the Turbulence Training program few weeks ago the regular price for the program was $47.
However, below is one link that I’ve found here in Yahoo Answers and used to buy Craig Ballantyne’s Turbulence Training program. You can use is too to get a trial offer and to try the complete program for less than 5 dollars for 3 weeks including 60 days money back guarantee (if the offer is still available…)

I hope that it helps!
